NG2 Antibody (LHM 2): sc-53389

NG2 Antibody (LHM 2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects NG2 protein in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry (FCM). NG2 (LHM 2) antibody comes in non-conjugated forms and various conjugates, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® options. NG2, also known as melanoma-associated chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 4, stabilizes cell-substratum interactions during early melanoma cell spreading on endothelial basement membranes. This stabilization promotes primary melanoma progression by enhancing activation of signaling pathways essential for tumor invasion and growth. Phosphorylation of Threonine 2256 in rat NG2 (or Threonine 2252 in human NG2) triggers redistribution on astrocytoma surfaces, cell polarization, and increased cell motility. NG2 functions as a co-receptor in malignant melanoma cells, promoting spreading and focal contact formation with α4 β1 integrin. NG2 appears on blood vessels throughout rat embryos and endothelial cells in central nervous system microvessels, while serving as a novel marker for epidermal stem cells, contributing to their patterned distribution and clustering.
