NF-E2 p18 Antibody (132I2G) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NF-E2 p18 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and flow cytometry (FCM). NF-E2 p18, also known as NF-E2U or MafK, is a crucial component of the NF-E2 transcription factor complex, which plays a significant role in regulating gene expression during erythroid differentiation. NF-E2 p18 is characterized by its basic-leucine zipper domain, which is essential for both DNA binding and dimerization, allowing NF-E2 p18 to form an obligate heterodimer with NF-E2 p45. The interaction between NF-E2 p18 and NF-E2 p45 is vital for the transcriptional regulation of globulin genes in developing erythroid cells, as NF-E2 p18 recognizes specific DNA motifs that are critical for gene activation. Additionally, NF-E2 p18 is ubiquitously expressed, indicating potential involvement in various cellular processes beyond erythropoiesis. Understanding the function and interactions of NF-E2 p18 is important for elucidating its role in hematopoiesis and implications in related disorders.
