NEPH2 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects NEPH2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NEPH2 Antibody (G-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NEPH2, also known as nephrin-like protein 2, KIRRE, or KIRREL3, is a 778 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the glomerular filtration barrier in the kidney. NEPH2 is predominantly expressed in podocytes, specialized cells in the kidney glomeruli, as well as in the fetal and adult brain. NEPH2 features five immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, which are essential for function in cell adhesion and signaling. NEPH2 interacts with Podocin, a key protein involved in the regulation of the filtration process, and proper functioning is vital for kidney health. Defects in the NEPH2 gene are linked to mental retardation autosomal dominant type 4 (MRD4), highlighting significance in both renal and neurological contexts.
