NEIL3 Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects NEIL3 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NEIL3, also known as endonuclease VIII-like 3, plays a crucial role in the cellular response to oxidative DNA damage, functioning as a DNA glycosylase that identifies and excises damaged bases, thereby facilitating the repair process. NEIL3 is primarily localized in the nucleus, which is significant because NEIL3 directly accesses and repairs DNA within the cell′s genetic material, thus maintaining genomic stability. NEIL3 consists of 605 amino acids and features both an FPG-type zinc finger and a RanBP2-type zinc finger, which are essential for structural integrity and functional activity. Notably, NEIL3′s lack of the proline residue at the N-terminus, which is present in homologs NEIL1 and NEIL2, raises questions about glycosylase activity, as studies have produced conflicting results regarding this function. NEIL3 expression is predominantly found in thymus and testis tissues, highlighting a potential role in tissue-specific DNA repair mechanisms.
