NDV HN Antibody (HN14f) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the NDV HN protein of Newcastle disease virus origin by immunoprecipitation (IP) and immunofluorescence (IF). NDV HN (HN14f) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is a negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus responsible for Newcastle disease, a highly contagious zoonotic disease that affects numerous domestic and wild avian species. The NDV HN protein, which is glycosylated, plays a crucial role in virus′s ability to infect host cells by binding to sialic acid-containing receptors on the cell surface. This interaction not only facilitates viral entry but also triggers an upregulation of host cell expression of important immune mediators such as TRAIL and death receptors, as well as interferon-alpha. The fusion of viral and host cell membranes, a process regulated by the NDV F protein, is essential for the spread of the virus to neighboring cells, thereby enhancing infectivity and virulence. Understanding the function of NDV HN protein is vital for developing effective strategies to control and prevent Newcastle disease in avian populations.
