NCS-1 Antibody (1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NCS-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). NCS-1, also known as neuronal calcium sensor-1 or frequenin, is a crucial regulatory protein that plays a significant role in calcium-dependent exocytosis, particularly in the release of neurotransmitters from synaptic vesicles and dense core granules. NCS-1 is primarily localized in neuronal cell bodies and axons throughout the brain and spinal cord, as well as in glial cells and neuroendocrine cells, such as bovine adrenal chromaffin and PC12 cells. The proper functioning of NCS-1 is vital for maintaining synaptic transmission and neuronal communication, as NCS-1 helps modulate calcium signaling pathways that are essential for various cellular processes. Additionally, NCS-1 is involved in a voltage-independent autocrine pathway that negatively regulates non-L-type calcium channels, further underscoring its importance in neuronal excitability and signaling. Anti-NCS-1 antibody (1) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying calcium signaling and its implications in neurobiology.
