Nanos2 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Nanos2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Nanos2 (B-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nanos2, also known as NOS2, is a 138 amino acid protein characterized by a nanos-type zinc finger structure, which consists of two C2HC motifs that bind zinc ions. This structural feature is crucial as Nanos2 facilitates translational regulation, particularly in male germ cells where Nanos2 is specifically expressed. Nanos2 is essential for spermatogonia formation and supports self-renewal, proliferation, and overall development of proximal germ cells. Nanos2 regulates translation of target mRNAs by potentially interacting with the 3′-untranslated region of specific transcripts, thereby influencing gene expression during critical stages of germ cell development. The gene encoding human Nanos2 is located on chromosome 19, a region that also harbors several immunoglobulin superfamily members, including killer cell and leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptors, various intercellular adhesion molecules, and Fc receptors, highlighting Nanos2′s significance in the broader context of immune response and cellular communication.
