SEE ALSO...

Myoferlin Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Myoferlin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Myoferlin antibody (D-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myoferlin, also known as Fer-1-like protein 3, is a crucial member of the ferlin family of proteins, sharing structural similarities with dysferlin. Myoferlin is primarily located in cardiac and skeletal muscle, where expression occurs predominantly at nuclear and plasma membranes. A unique structure including a single transmembrane domain near the C-terminus, an SH3 domain, and six C2 domains (C2A-C2F) is essential for Myoferlin′s function in calcium-mediated membrane fusion events. These C2 domains suggest a significant role in membrane regeneration and repair, vital for maintaining muscle integrity and function. Myoferlin regulates stability and signaling of Flk-1, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, where loss can lead to impaired proliferation, migration, and nitric oxide release in response to vascular endothelial growth factor. Myoferlin has been implicated in various muscular dystrophies and cardiomyopathies, highlighting importance in muscle health and disease.
