Mycobacterium avium Antibody (103) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Mycobacterium avium protein of Mycobacterium avium origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Mycobacterium avium antibody (103) is available as the non-conjugated format. Mycobacterium avium is a member of the Mycobacterium genus, known for its unique cell wall structure that is significantly thicker than most bacteria. This distinctive cell wall is rich in mycolic acids, providing a waxy, hydrophobic barrier and contributing to remarkable resilience against various environmental stresses, including antibiotics targeting cell wall synthesis. The robust mycobacterial cell wall enables Mycobacterium avium survival in hostile conditions, such as the human immune system, where Mycobacterium avium can evade destruction by phagocytes. Such resilience against harsh environments is particularly important for pathogenicity, allowing persistence in the body and causing infections, especially in immunocompromised individuals. Mycobacterium avium commonly exists in the environment and can lead to serious health issues, including pulmonary infections in humans and disseminated disease in patients with weakened immune systems, such as those with AIDS. The unique properties of Mycobacterium avium make Mycobacterium avium monoclonal antibody (103) an essential tool for researchers studying this pathogen and its interactions within host organisms.
