MULK Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MULK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MULK (F-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MULK protein, also known as multi-substrate lipid kinase or acylglycerol kinase, is a 422 amino acid protein predominantly localized to mitochondrial membrane and highly expressed in tissues such as muscle, heart, kidney, and brain. MULK protein plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, functioning as a lipid kinase that phosphorylates monoacylglycerol and diacylglycerol to produce lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and phosphatidic acid (PA), respectively. MULK′s ability to regulate LPA production is particularly significant, as LPA is a bioactive lipid that can activate various signaling pathways, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathways, ultimately promoting cell proliferation. MULK overexpression has been linked to initiation and progression of prostate cancer, highlighting potential as a therapeutic target. MULK utilizes magnesium as a cofactor and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with its gene located on chromosome 7q34.
