SEE ALSO...

Mucin 5B Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 5B of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Mucin 5B antibody (A-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mucin 5B is a high molecular weight glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in protecting and lubricating epithelial surfaces, particularly in respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Mucin 5B′s structure, characterized by a mucin core protein with extensive O-linked glycosylation, influences mucus viscosity and gel-forming properties, maintaining mucosal surface barrier function and facilitating pathogen clearance. Located on human chromosome 11p15, Mucin 5B shows notable expression in gallbladder, colon, non-inflamed middle ear, and normal esophagus, with significant upregulation during chronic inflammation. Mucin 5B expression in gastric cancer is regulated by a distal promoter influenced by protein kinase C activity and methylation status. Retinoic acid regulation of Mucin 5B expression highlights its importance in mucous differentiation and potential role in reproductive processes, such as facilitating sperm transit to the uterus.
