Mucin 5AC Antibody (2X123) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Mucin 5AC in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Mucin 5AC is a gel-forming mucin primarily secreted by surface mucous cells, playing a crucial role in the protection and lubrication of epithelial surfaces. Anti-Mucin 5AC antibody (2X123) recognizes a protein structure characterized by high molecular weight and complex O-linked carbohydrates, essential for forming protective mucus barriers that maintain mucosal surface integrity in respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Mucin 5AC synthesis is regulated by glucocorticoids necessary for mRNA expression, and pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha enhance secretion during chronic inflammation.
