µ-protocadherin Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects µ-protocadherin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-µ-protocadherin antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. µ-protocadherin is a developmentally regulated, single-pass type I transmembrane protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and signaling. µ-protocadherin (A-11) monoclonal antibody recognizes proteins primarily localized to the apical surface of epithelial tissues, particularly along the brush border of the proximal convoluted tubule, where µ-protocadherin facilitates calcium-dependent cell aggregation. This localization is vital for maintaining the integrity of epithelial barriers and regulating interactions between cells. µ-protocadherin features four cadherin-like ectodomains, a triply repeating mucin domain, and multiple binding regions, which contribute to adhesive properties and potential signaling functions. Alternative splicing results in at least four isoforms of µ-protocadherin, with variations in the mucin-like domain region, where only the longest isoform retains the triply repeating mucin domain, underscoring the complexity and functional diversity of µ-protocadherin.
