SEE ALSO...

MTP Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MTP in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MTP antibody (C-1) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by facilitating the transport of cholesteryl esters, triglycerides, and phospholipids between phospholipid surfaces, which is essential for the assembly and secretion of lipoproteins that contain apolipoprotein B. MTP is a heterodimer composed of MTP and protein disulfide isomerase (PDI), and proper function is vital for maintaining lipid homeostasis in the body. MTP is primarily localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and is predominantly expressed in the small intestine and liver, with additional expression in the kidney, testis, and ovary, but is notably absent in epithelial cells. Dysregulation or defects in MTP can lead to abetalipoproteinemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by impaired lipoprotein metabolism, highlighting MTP′s importance in human health.

What blocking solution should I use with MTP (C-1): sc-515742 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
