MSL-1 Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MSL-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MSL-1 (C-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MSL-1, also known as male-specific lethal 1 homolog (Drosophila) or MSL1L1, is a crucial 614 amino acid nuclear protein that plays a significant role in gene regulation by forming a multisubunit histone acetyltransferase complex with MOF, MSL-1, MSL-2, and MSL3L1. This complex is primarily responsible for the acetylation of histone H4 at lysine 16, a modification essential for gene expression and chromatin structure regulation. MSL-1 maintains genomic stability and prevents various diseases, including cancer, by influencing genes involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA repair. MSL-1 exists in three alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 17q21.1, a region harboring over 1,200 genes, including key tumor suppressor genes such as p53 and BRCA1. Loss of function or mutation of these genes is associated with various malignancies, highlighting MSL-1′s importance in cellular health and disease prevention.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-514649 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
