    SEE ALSO...

MSH2 Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MSH2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MSH2 (D-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MSH2 protein plays a critical role in the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system, which is essential for maintaining genomic stability by correcting errors that occur during DNA replication. Deficiencies in this repair mechanism can lead to an accumulation of mutations, significantly increasing the risk of various cancers, including hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). Notably, mutations in MSH2 and MSH2 homolog MLH1 have been linked to a high frequency of microsatellite instability, a hallmark of many tumors. Furthermore, the presence of microsatellite instability in a range of cancers, such as pancreatic, gastric, breast, ovarian, and small cell lung cancers, underscores MSH2′s importance in tumorigenesis beyond hereditary conditions. The identification of additional homologs, PMS1 and PMS2, which are also implicated in MMR and associated with HNPCC, highlights the complexity and significance of this pathway in cancer biology.
