MRSA Antibody (NYR MRSA16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the MRSA protein of Staphylococcus aureus origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MRSA antibody (NYR MRSA16) is available as the non-conjugated format. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a variant of the common bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, notable for its resistance to β-lactam antibiotics, including methicillin and penicillin. This resistance is primarily due to the acquisition of the mecA gene, which encodes a penicillin-binding protein that has a low affinity for β-lactam antibiotics, allowing MRSA to survive in environments where these drugs would typically be effective. The presence of MRSA in both community and healthcare settings poses significant challenges, particularly for patients with compromised immune systems or open wounds, who are at an increased risk of severe infections. Potential infection sites include the respiratory tract, urinary tract, open wounds, anterior nares, and intravenous catheters, with severe cases leading to conditions such as necrotizing fasciitis or even death. The ability of MRSA to evade standard antibiotic treatments underscores the importance of ongoing research and effective diagnostic tools, such as MRSA (NYR MRSA16) antibody, to identify and manage infections caused by this formidable pathogen.
