This function is vital for gene expression regulation, ensuring proper mRNA export for translation into proteins, thereby influencing cellular function and response to environmental signals. mrnp41 localizes at the nuclear pore complex within the nuclear envelope, where mrnp41′s role as a nuclear exporter prevents accumulation of poly(A)-containing mRNA in the nucleus, which can disrupt normal cellular processes. mrnp41 interacts with Nup98 to regulate E-cadherin, a key component in the anaphase-promoting complex, suggesting a potential role in maintaining chromosomal stability during cell division. During mitosis, mrnp41 and NuMA are essential for bipolar spindle formation, highlighting mrnp41′s importance in ensuring accurate cell division and genomic integrity.
