motilin Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects motilin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-motilin antibody (H-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Motilin, also referred to as MLN, is a 115 amino acid secreted peptide derived from the proteolytic cleavage of the promotilin precursor protein, which is essential for the production of motilin and motilin-associated peptide (MAP). This peptide is primarily located in the enteroendocrine cells of the small intestine, where motilin plays a crucial role in stimulating the rhythmic contractions of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly in the duodenum and colon. The regulation of these contractions is vital for proper digestive function, as motilin helps coordinate the movement of food through the digestive system during the interdigestive phase. The gene encoding motilin is situated on human chromosome 6, a region that comprises nearly 6% of the human genome and is associated with various health conditions, including early onset intestinal cancer and other genetic disorders. The presence of motilin and motilin′s interactions with specific receptors underscore motilin′s importance in gastrointestinal motility and overall digestive health, making motilin monoclonal antibody (H-9) an invaluable tool for researchers studying these processes.
