MMP-26 Antibody (TG-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody designed to detect human matrix metallopeptidase-26 (MMP-26) protein with precision in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MMP-26 monoclonal antibody (TG-9) targets recombinant MMP-26, ensuring reliable performance and robust reactivity. MMP-26, also known as Endometase or Matrilysin-2, is a 261 amino acid enzyme involved in degrading extracellular matrix (ECM) components like fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin, and collagen type IV. Unlike other MMP family members, MMP-26 lacks a conserved C-terminal domain, which influences regulatory mechanisms and interactions. Post-translational activation of MMP-26 by extracellular proteinases is essential for function in tissue remodeling, reproduction, and embryonic development. MMP-26 interacts with key proteins such as tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), particularly TIMP-2, which regulate proteolytic activity, and with cell adhesion molecules like integrins and E-cadherin, affecting cell migration and invasion. In cancer, MMP-26 is frequently overexpressed in malignant tumors, where MMP-26 collaborates with other MMPs like MMP-9 to facilitate ECM degradation, promoting tumor growth and metastasis.
