SEE ALSO...

MMP-2 Antibody (2C1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically engineered to detect the activated form of human MMP-2, as well as MMP-2 from mouse and rat origins across multiple applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). MMP-2 monoclonal antibody (2C1) is raised against the activated form of MMP-2, ensuring precise binding to the target protein, and is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms such as agarose, phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates to accommodate diverse experimental needs. Matrix metalloproteinase-2, also called MMP-2, gelatinase A, CLG4, MONA, CLG4A, and TBE-1, is a pivotal enzyme within the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family, which plays a crucial role in the degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) components including collagen types IV, V, VII, and X, as well as gelatin type I. This enzymatic activity is essential for normal physiological processes such as tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, and wound healing, as well as pathological conditions like cancer metastasis, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory disorders. MMP-2 activity is tightly regulated by the Ras signaling pathway and requires both calcium and zinc ions for catalytic function. By cleaving ECM proteins, MMP-2 facilitates cellular migration and invasion, making MMP-2 a key player in tumor progression and metastasis. Additionally, MMP-2 is involved in the modulation of bioactive molecules within the ECM, influencing cell signaling pathways that govern cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Understanding the expression and regulation of MMP-2 is vital for elucidating the mechanisms underlying various diseases, and anti-MMP-2 antibody (2C1) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes.

Does it work for bovine tissue?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. This antibody has not yet been tested in bovine samples and so that is not a recommended species at this time. We are still gathering data to show on our website. We do have a previous citation in bovine samples which may be helpful for you: PMID: 12844104.

We are looking for a MMP-2 antibody that works well in Western blotting . For this we would like to use a 10ug free sample of MMP2 antibody (2C1): sc-13594. I was wondering if we could get some.

Asked by: Shiv
Please contact our Technical Service Department for more information on how to receive a free 10 ug sample of this monoclonal antibody.

Hello.. is there a recommended buffer for use of this product with tissue lysates and immunoblotting? We usually use RIPA buffer for protein expression, but was concerned about chelators.

Asked by: Nabilb
Thank you for your question. We do not have any specific buffer recommendation for use with this MMP-2 antibody and have prepared our lysates for testing using our standard RIPA buffer. You may want to refer to some of the numerous product citations using this antibody for Western blotting to see if they have any optimized recommendations.

What is the epitope sequence (binding site) of this antibody? Could you tell me a.a. number?

Asked by: neoSong
Thank you for your question. This mouse monoclonal antibody, MMP-2 (2C1): sc-13594, is raised against the activated form of MMP-2 of human origin. The exact epitope for this monoclonal antibody has not yet been determined.

Can this mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

Asked by: Anna99
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This monoclonal for MMP-2 is available conjugated to agarose (sc-13594 AC), 500 µg/0.25 ml agarose in 1 ml, for IP; HRP (sc-13594 HRP), 200 µg/ml, for WB, IHC(P) and ELISA; phycoerythrin (sc-13594 PE), fluorescein (sc-13594 FITC), Alexa Fluor® 488 (sc-13594 AF488) or Alexa Fluor® 647 (sc-13594 AF647), 200 µg/ml, for IF, IHC(P) and FCM
