MMP-10 Antibody (LA-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MMP-10 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). MMP-10, also known as Stromelysin-2, is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family, which plays a crucial role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components such as collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycans. MMP-10 is primarily expressed in the small intestine, with lower levels found in the lung and heart, highlighting its importance in tissue remodeling and repair. MMP-10′s enzymatic activity is particularly significant as it facilitates the breakdown of fibronectin and various types of gelatin, although its effect on collagens III, IV, and V is relatively weak. Notably, MMP-10 expression is upregulated in ras-transformed HaCaT II-4 keratinocytes, which promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, a process that is critical in cancer progression and metastasis. MMP-10′s ability to modulate the extracellular matrix underscores its potential as a therapeutic target in cancer and other diseases characterized by aberrant tissue remodeling.
