MKP-2 Antibody (48) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MKP-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). MKP-2, also known as MAP kinase phosphatase 2 or Dual specificity protein phosphatase 4 (DUSP4), plays a critical role in regulating mitogenic signal transduction by dephosphorylating both threonine and tyrosine residues on MAP kinases ERK 1 and ERK 2, which are pivotal in cell proliferation and differentiation. Precise regulation of these MAP kinases is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing uncontrolled cell growth, making MKP-2 a significant player in cancer biology. Additionally, MKP-2 is transcriptionally regulated by E2F-1 transcription factor, known for mediating apoptosis and suppressing tumorigenesis. E2F-1 binds to a specific palindromic motif in the MKP-2 promoter, enhancing expression and thereby influencing apoptotic pathways. The interaction between MKP-2 and E2F-1 underscores the potential of targeting this pathway for innovative cancer therapies, as manipulating MKP-2 levels could provide new avenues for treatment strategies aimed at enhancing apoptosis in cancer cells.
