SEE ALSO...

MGP Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MGP antibody (A-11) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Matrix Gla Protein plays a crucial role in regulating calcification within the extracellular matrix, particularly in cartilage and arterial tissues, which is vital for maintaining vascular health and preventing pathological calcification. MGP is a vitamin K-dependent protein characterized by the presence of five to six residues of γ-carboxy-glutamic acid (Gla), an amino acid that binds calcium ions and is essential for MGP′s function. In humans, MGP consists of 84 amino acids, along with a 19-amino-acid transmembrane signal peptide, while a truncated 77-residue form is found in human bone extracts, likely resulting from enzymatic processing. High expression levels of MGP are observed in the heart, kidney, and lung, with notable over-expression in the breast cancer cell line 600 PEI. Additionally, retinoic acid has been shown to induce MGP expression in chondrocytes, fibroblasts, and osteoblasts. Mutations in the MGP gene can lead to Keutel syndrome, a condition associated with abnormal cartilage calcification, highlighting MGP′s significant role in extracellular matrix calcification regulation. MGP can interact with vitronectin and fibronectin through its C-terminus, and phosphorylation occurs near the N-terminus at three serine residues, which are part of a tandemly repeated Ser-X-Glu sequence, further influencing biological activity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak specific band and additional higher bandWe tested this antibody at 1:100 dilution in our lab for OVCAR3 cell line lysates and we observed two bands after overnight incubation, the higher one being unexpected and much more intense than that of 20kDa!
