SEE ALSO...

mGluR-5 Antibody (1B3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects mGluR-5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-mGluR-5 antibody (1B3) is available as a non-conjugated format. mGluR-5, also known as metabotropic glutamate receptor 5, plays a crucial role in the central nervous system by mediating synaptic transmission and plasticity, which are essential for learning and memory processes. mGluR-5 is primarily located in the postsynaptic membrane of neurons, where mGluR-5 interacts with various signaling pathways, including the phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system, to modulate neuronal excitability and neurotransmitter release. mGluR-5 has been implicated in several neurological disorders, making mGluR-5 a significant target for therapeutic intervention. mGluR-5′s ability to form complexes with other proteins, such as SIAH-1, RyR-1, RyR-2, ITPR1, Shank 1, Shank 3, and GRASP, highlights mGluR-5′s role in synaptic signaling and potential for dysregulation in disease states. The PPXXf motif of mGluR-5 further enhances mGluR-5′s interaction with proteins like HOM1, HOM2, and HOM3, underscoring the complexity of mGluR-5′s functional network.
