    SEE ALSO...

MerTK Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MerTK in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MerTK, also known as c-Mer, is a vital member of the Mer/Axl/Tyro3 receptor kinase family, consisting of 984 amino acids and featuring a single tyrosine kinase domain, two Fibronectin type-III domains, and two immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains. MerTK plays essential roles in macrophage activation, platelet aggregation, and apoptotic cell clearance, which maintains tissue homeostasis and prevents inflammation. MerTK functions in the phagocytic process of outer segment ingestion in the retinal pigment epithelium, where MerTK interacts with phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C γ2 (PI-PLC γ2) to facilitate signaling. Disruption of MerTK can lead to impaired phagocytosis in the retinal pigment epithelium, resulting in autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa, a condition characterized by retinal photoreceptor cell degeneration. Anti-MerTK antibody (B-4) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these critical pathways and their implications in various diseases.
