melanotransferrin Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects melanotransferrin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). melanotransferrin Antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Melanotransferrin, also known as p97, is a member of the transferrin family of iron-binding proteins, which includes serum transferrin, lactoferrin, and ovotransferrin, and is notably expressed on melanoma cells. Melanotransferrin plays a crucial role in cellular processes, particularly in the brain, where melanotransferrin may be implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer′s disease. Melanotransferrin is primarily located in the cell membrane and can also be secreted, which is significant for cellular adhesion and protection against oxidative stress. The gene encoding human melanotransferrin is mapped to chromosome 3q28-29, and melanotransferrin expression in the brain suggests a potential role in neuroprotection and cellular signaling. Additionally, melanotransferrin may exhibit metalloprotease activity, further indicating involvement in various biological processes. Further research is essential to fully understand the diverse functions and interactions of melanotransferrin, making anti-melanotransferrin antibody (E-4) a valuable tool for studying melanotransferrin′s role in health and disease.
