SEE ALSO...

MeCP2 Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects MeCP2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MeCP2 antibody (G-6) is available as a non-conjugated format. MeCP2 plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression through binding to methylated DNA, which is essential for normal neurological function. Mutations in MeCP2 are linked to Rett syndrome, a severe neurodevelopmental disorder primarily affecting females, highlighting MeCP2′s importance in maintaining cognitive and motor functions. MeCP2 is predominantly located in the nucleus, where MeCP2 interacts with methylated DNA and various corepressor complexes, including mSin3A and histone deacetylases, to mediate transcriptional repression. This nuclear localization enables MeCP2 to effectively regulate gene expression in response to DNA methylation changes, which are critical for neuronal development and plasticity. MeCP2′s ability to bind tightly to methylated regions of the genome underscores MeCP2′s significance in epigenetic regulation and potential impact on various neurological disorders when dysregulated.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-137070 X be used instead of the standard form sc-137070?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
