SEE ALSO...

ME2 Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ME2 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ME2 (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ME2, also known as malic enzyme 2, is a crucial mitochondrial enzyme that plays a significant role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of (s)-malate to pyruvate, a key step in the anaplerotic pathway. This enzymatic function is vital for maintaining the balance of metabolic intermediates, which is essential for energy production and biosynthesis in cells. Notably, ME2 exists as a homotetramer, and ME2 activity is intricately linked to the malate-aspartate shuttle, which is critical for the transport of reducing equivalents across the mitochondrial membrane. Dysregulation of ME2 has been implicated in various neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, highlighting ME2 importance in neuronal function and neurotransmitter synthesis. ME2 interaction with ion channels in the brain further underscores ME2 relevance in the pathophysiology of epilepsy, making ME2 a significant target for research in both metabolic and neurological contexts.
