  • MBP Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 κ, cited in 7 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 54-90 within an internal region of MBP of human origin
  • Anti-MBP Antibody (A-3) is recommended for detection of MBP isoforms 3 and 4 (also designated MBP1 and MBP2) of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA
  • Anti-MBP Antibody (A-3) is available conjugated to agarose for IP; HRP for WB, IHC(P) and ELISA; and to either phycoerythrin or FITC for IF, IHC(P) and FCM
  • also available conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 488, Alexa Fluor® 546, Alexa Fluor® 594 or Alexa Fluor® 647 for WB (RGB), IF, IHC(P) and FCM, and for use with RGB fluorescent imaging systems, such as iBright™ FL1000, FluorChem™, Typhoon, Azure and other comparable systems
  • also available conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 680 or Alexa Fluor® 790 for WB (NIR), IF and FCM; for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR®Odyssey®, iBright™ FL1000, FluorChem™, Typhoon, Azure and other comparable systems
  • m-IgG Fc BP-HRP and m-IgG1 BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for MBP Antibody (A-3) for WB applications. These reagents are now offered in bundles with MBP Antibody (A-3) (see ordering information below).

SEE ALSO...

MBP Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects myelin basic protein (MBP) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MBP (A-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myelin basic protein plays a crucial role as the major extrinsic membrane protein of central nervous system myelin, contributing significantly to the formation and maintenance of the myelin sheath that insulates nerve fibers. MBP functions vitally for rapid transmission of electrical signals in the nervous system, and phosphorylation at Threonine 125 serves as a key regulatory mechanism influencing myelin sheath stability. Mitogen-activated protein kinases modulate this phosphorylation during myelinogenesis and in demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis. MBP phosphorylation responds to high-frequency stimulation of the alveus, the myelinated output fibers of the hippocampus, suggesting increased neuronal activity can alter MBP′s phosphorylation state through calcium-mediated activation of axonal nitric oxide synthase, which produces nitric oxide and superoxide as intercellular messengers. This intricate regulatory process underscores MBP′s importance in both normal and pathological states of the nervous system, making anti-MBP antibody (A-3) an essential tool for researchers studying myelin-related functions and diseases.

Do we need to do antigen retrieval for this antibody? I have been using it for IHC but somehow I can't see anything.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-376995 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
