MAVS Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MAVS protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAVS (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAVS, or mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein, is a crucial 540 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in the innate immune response by localizing to the outer mitochondrial membrane. MAVS contains one caspase activation and recruitment domain (CARD) and several transmembrane domains, which are essential for function. MAVS acts downstream of pattern recognition receptors like RIG-I, which detect double-stranded viral RNA, and is vital for the activation of signaling pathways that lead to the production of antiviral cytokines. This function is critical for mounting an effective immune response against viral infections, as MAVS helps to initiate the signaling cascade that can protect cells from viral-induced apoptosis. MAVS can be inactivated through proteolytic cleavage, which disrupts interaction with other signaling proteins, highlighting the importance of structural integrity for immune function. MAVS is expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels found in the liver, heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, and peripheral blood leukocytes, underscoring its widespread role in immune surveillance.
