Maspardin Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Maspardin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Maspardin antibody (H-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Maspardin, also known as MAST, ACP33, GL010, BM-019, or SPG21 (spastic paraplegia 21), is a 308 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in cellular processes and is widely expressed across different tissues. Maspardin belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily and is primarily located in the endosomal/trans-Golgi network, where Maspardin colocalizes with CD4. This localization suggests Maspardin may function as a negative regulatory factor in CD4-dependent T-cell activation, thereby influencing immune responses. Mutations in Maspardin are associated with hereditary spastic paraplegia autosomal recessive type 21, a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs. Maspardin gene is located on human chromosome 15, which contains over 700 genes and represents nearly 3% of the human genome, highlighting Maspardin′s importance in both cellular function and disease pathology.
