MAGP-1 Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MAGP-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAGP-1 (G-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAGP-1 plays a crucial role in forming and maintaining elastic fibers, which are essential for loose connective tissue resilience, complementing tensile strength provided by collagen fibers. Elastic fibers primarily consist of elastin and a microfibril network, including glycoproteins such as fibrillin-1, fibrillin-2, and microfibril-associated glycoproteins like MAGP-1 and MAGP-2. During elastogenesis, MAGP-1 and MAGP-2 facilitate fibrillin binding to tropoelastin within extracellular matrix of various elastic and non-elastic tissues. MAGP-1 functions as an O-glycosylated protein secreted into extracellular space and matrix, forming a ternary complex with Biglycan and elastin. MAGP-1 can create intermolecular disulfide bonds with other MAGP-1 molecules or microfibril components, potentially leading to transglutaminase cross-linking. Studies demonstrate that both underexpression and overexpression of Zebrafish homolog, Magp-1, significantly impact vascular development, highlighting MAGP-1′s critical role in tissue integrity and function.
