Ly-6C Antibody (HK1.4) is a rat monoclonal IgG2c antibody that detects Ly-6C in mouse samples through immunoprecipitation (IP) and immunofluorescence (IF) applications. Ly-6C is a critical protein that plays a significant role in the immune response, particularly in the activation and regulation of CD8 T cells. Anti-Ly-6C antibody (HK1.4) recognizes a protein predominantly expressed on murine peripheral CD8 T cells, where Ly-6C is involved in various essential functions, including endothelial adhesion, the cytotoxic activity of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), and the induction of T cell receptor-mediated production of interleukin-2 and interferon-gamma. Ly-6C expression on these T cells is crucial for their homing to sites of inflammation, thereby facilitating an effective immune response. Additionally, Ly-6C may function as a signaling molecule that activates lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), which is vital for T cell adhesion and migration. The unique expression patterns of Ly-6C during hematopoiesis and its interaction with other immune cells underscore its importance in maintaining immune system integrity and response.
