SEE ALSO...

LRP1 Antibody (8G1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody designed to detect Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1 (LRP1), also known as α2-Macroglobulin Receptor (α2MR). LRP1 is a multifunctional endocytic receptor localized primarily on the cell surface, where LRP1 plays a crucial role in internalizing a diverse range of ligands, including α2-Macroglobulin and apolipoprotein E (apoE). LRP1 is essential for processes such as lipid metabolism, protease clearance, and cellular signaling, which are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and function. LRP1 is predominantly expressed in key tissues such as the brain, liver, and lungs, highlighting LRP1′s importance in neurological health, metabolic regulation, and respiratory function. Additionally, LRP1 is implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer′s disease, making LRP1 a significant target for research into neurodegenerative disorders. Anti-LRP1 antibody (8G1) is raised against the full-length native human LRP1, specifically targeting the extracellular epitope on the 515 kDa alpha chain. LRP1 (8G1) antibody is recommended for use across multiple species, including mouse, rat, and human, and is compatible with various applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and flow cytometry (FCM). By providing reliable detection of LRP1, anti-LRP1 antibody (8G1) is an indispensable tool for researchers investigating the intricate roles of LRP1 in health and disease, facilitating advanced studies into cellular functions and therapeutic potential.

What region of the LRP-1 alpha chain serves as the epitope that this antibody binds to? We are trying to differentiate between LRP-1 segments IV (closer to the cell membrane) and II (more extracellular).

Asked by: MM22
Thank you for your question. The exact epitope recognized by this monoclonal antibody has not yet been determined. We do know that this antibody recognizes the 515 kDa alpha chain of Low Density LRP/alpha2 MR; therefore the epitope is extracellular.

May I know the species reactivity and the isotype control suggested for flow cytometry? Thanks

Asked by: Nivetha
Thank you for your question. LRP1 Antibody (8G1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody. We recommend it for detection of LRP1 of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IF, IHC(P) and FCM. The appropriate isotype control for this antibody is normal mouse IgG1: sc-3877. Feel free to also contact our technical service directly if you have further questions.

What's the antigen of this antibody, what motif does it identify? I'd like to know whether it binding with the extracellular segment of LRP1.

Asked by: Aori
Thank you for your question. LRP1 Antibody (8G1) is a mouse monoclonal raised against full length native LRP1 protein of human origin. The antibody specifically recognizes the 515 kDa alpha chain of LRP1, which is mapping within an extracellular domain.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with LRP1 Antibody (8G1): sc-57353?

Asked by: Trav11
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Technical Service department by calling 800-457-3801 option 2, emailing scbt@scbt.com, or using the Live Chat function on our website.
