    SEE ALSO...

Lipoprotein Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the lipoprotein protein of S. equi origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Lipoprotein (A-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. Lipoprotein plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Streptococcus equi, as lipoprotein is involved in the bacterium′s ability to evade the host immune response. By binding to host tissues and modulating immune signaling, anti-lipoprotein antibody (A-9) facilitates the establishment of infection, making lipoprotein a significant target for therapeutic intervention and vaccine development. Streptococcus equi, a member of the Lancefield group C, is a highly contagious pathogen responsible for strangles, a disease that poses serious health risks to equines. Symptoms of strangles include fever, depression, and significant lymphadenopathy, which can lead to respiratory complications. Understanding lipoprotein function in S. equi not only aids in the development of diagnostic tools but also enhances our knowledge of bacterial virulence mechanisms, ultimately contributing to better management and prevention strategies for strangles in equine populations.
