LAT2 Antibody (3F10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects LAT2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-LAT2 antibody (3F10) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. L-amino acid transporter protein-2 (LAT2) is a crucial non-glycosylated membrane protein that plays a significant role in the transport of neutral amino acids across cell membranes, particularly in renal epithelia and blood-tissue barriers. LAT2 is primarily expressed in the kidney, but is also found in lower levels in various tissues, including the placenta, brain, liver, spleen, skeletal muscle, heart, small intestine, and lung. LAT2′s importance lies in its ability to facilitate the basolateral efflux of cysteine, which is essential for maintaining amino acid homeostasis in the body. Studies have shown that LAT2 expression is vital for the reabsorption of cysteine, making LAT2 a potential target for therapeutic interventions aimed at modulating amino acid transport. Furthermore, LAT2 forms a heterodimer with CD98, which interacts with Integrin β1 in intestinal epithelial cells, indicating that LAT2 activity can be influenced by cell adhesion events through ligand binding to CD98 and ICAM-1. This highlights a novel regulatory mechanism that connects cellular interactions with amino acid transport, underscoring the functional significance of LAT2 in physiological processes.
