Laminin-R Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Laminin-R in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Laminin-R, also known as colon carcinoma laminin-binding protein, plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration, which are essential processes in tissue development and repair, as well as in cancer metastasis. Laminin-R is characterized by its heterodimeric structure, which is similar to that of other extracellular matrix protein receptors, such as fibronectin and vitronectin. The incorporation of Laminin-R into lysosomal membranes facilitates the attachment of lysosomes to surfaces coated with laminin, highlighting Laminin-R′s importance in cellular interactions and signaling pathways. Notably, Laminin-R expression is significantly upregulated in aggressive carcinomas, particularly in colon cancer, where Laminin-R is found at nine-fold higher levels compared to adjacent normal colonic epithelium. This upregulation suggests that Laminin-R may serve as a potential biomarker for cancer progression and a target for therapeutic intervention. Additionally, the precursor of Laminin-R, identified as p40 ribosome-associated protein, is involved in the translational machinery, further underscoring the multifunctional nature of Laminin-R in cellular processes.
