SEE ALSO...

KV1.3 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects KV1.3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-KV1.3 antibody (G-9) is available as the non-conjugated form. KV1.3 (G-9) antibody recognizes a protein crucial for regulating electrical activity in excitable cells, such as neurons and muscle cells, by contributing to action potential repolarization. KV1.3 (G-9) monoclonal antibody targets a channel within the voltage-gated potassium channel family, which forms tetrameric structures allowing diverse gating and permeation properties. Anti-KV1.3 antibody (G-9) helps study a protein essential for neuronal signaling that influences heart rhythm and neurotransmitter release. Understanding KV1.3 dynamics and interactions provides insights into potential therapeutic targets for epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias, and other excitability disorders.

Thank you for your answer, but I see that you also have the two bands that I see in my WB. In your second reference image, you analyzed tree samples, A) HEK293 not transfected, B) HEK293T transfected with Kv1.3 (see two bands here) and C) Jurkat.

Asked by: Salvador72
Thanks for your question! Yes, you can sometimes see additional banding in transfected lysate tests due to incomplete products of translation. These are different than endogenous protein bands. Please reach out directly to your local distributor for further technical assistance if you wish to discuss your results.

Hi, I used a free sample of Kv1.3 antibody (G-9). I does a assay diferent T cells models, but in each of these, two nearby bands appear. I would say that they would be approximately 55 and 60 KDa, do you know what these two bands could be due to?

Asked by: Salvador72
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not have any information regarding the bands you are seeing as we have not seen them in house. I would suggest running a secondary control and optimize your conditions to see if you still see these extra bands.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398855 P appropriate for?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another good antibody recognizing a Kv memberThe kv1.3 antibody is an excellent antibody that I tested for western blot. Usually membrane proteins are tricky, they shift a lot in mass because of different post transnational modifications in tissue samples, The KCNA3/Kv1.3 gives a protein of 63kDa in human (theoretical, calculated by Expassy), in rat and mouse, the genomic regions harboring Kv1.3 is still not resolved and therefore, no transcripts yet, but it should be around the same mol weight as of human. In the blot picture (attached) you can clearly see a approximately 75kDa protein band which is Kv1.3 and then there is a higher molecular weight approximately 180 kDa band that is possibly the glycosylated form. It is interesting this the Kv1.3 band is less intense for another brain tissue (right panel) but the non-specific band is of comparable intensity (indicating same amount of proteins loaded for 2 tissues) suggesting that this gene is deferentially expressed in different parts of the rat brain. Also this is an indication of the specificity of the antibody. So, I will definitely recommend this antibody for your research.
