KRIT1 Antibody (8-RY2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects KRIT1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KRIT1, also known as Krev interaction-trapped 1, is a crucial microtubule-associated protein consisting of 529 amino acids, which plays a significant role in maintaining the structural integrity and function of endothelial cells. During interphase, KRIT1 is predominantly localized along the length of microtubules, while in metaphase, KRIT1 is found at spindle pole bodies and on the mitotic spindle, highlighting its importance in cell division. In later stages of mitosis, KRIT1 accumulates at the midbody, where KRIT1 facilitates the overlap of plus ends from dividing cells, thereby contributing to proper cytokinesis. KRIT1′s interactions with Krev1 and integrin cytoplasmic domain-associated protein-1 alpha (ICAP1 alpha) suggest KRIT1 is integral to determining endothelial cell shape and function in response to various cellular signals, including cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Importantly, mutations in the KRIT1 gene are associated with Cerebral Cavernous Malformations (CCM), which are vascular abnormalities primarily affecting the central nervous system and can lead to severe complications such as cerebral hemorrhages, strokes, and seizures. Anti-KRIT1 antibody (8-RY2) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the role of KRIT1 in both normal physiology and disease states.
