    SEE ALSO...

KIR3.4 Antibody (8D2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KIR3.4 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KIR3.4 (8D2) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. KIR3.4 protein, also known as GIRK4 or KCNJ5, plays a crucial role in the regulation of neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission by forming G protein-coupled inwardly rectifying potassium channels. These channels are predominantly located in the soma, dendrites, and axons of neurons, particularly in key regions of the brain such as the olfactory bulb, hippocampus, neocortex, dentate gyrus, cerebellar cortex, and thalamus. Proper functioning of KIR3.4 is vital for maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the brain, which is essential for processes such as learning, memory, and sensory perception. Additionally, KIR3.4 channels are regulated by G protein beta-gamma subunits, which can either enhance or inhibit potassium currents depending on their composition. Notably, KIR3.4 activity can be modulated by post-translational modifications, such as tyrosine phosphorylation, which can lead to channel inactivation and impact neuronal signaling. This makes KIR3.4 not only a key player in neuronal function but also a potential target for therapeutic interventions in neurological disorders.
