SEE ALSO...

Katanin p60 AL1 Antibody (A-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Katanin p60 AL1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Katanin p60 AL1 antibody (A-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Katanin p60 AL1 plays a crucial role in microtubule dynamics, which are essential for various cellular processes, including cell division and intracellular transport. Specifically, Katanin p60 AL1 is part of a heterodimeric complex that severs microtubules in an ATP-dependent manner, facilitating reorganization of microtubule arrays and release of microtubules from the centrosome after nucleation. This severing activity is vital for maintaining proper cellular architecture and function, as dynamic remodeling of the cytoskeleton responds to cellular needs. The Katanin complex consists of the 60 kDa subunit (Katanin p60 A1) and an 80 kDa accessory protein (Katanin p80 B1), where Katanin p60 A1 performs the severing action, while Katanin p80 B1 directs the complex to the centrosome. Both Katanin p60 A1 and Katanin p80 B1 belong to the AAA ATPase family, which also includes Katanin p60 A1-like proteins, Katanin p60 AL1 and Katanin p60 AL2, highlighting evolutionary conservation and functional importance in cellular processes.

I am confused about this Ab. It is raised using antigens from the Katanin-like 1 protein, but information on the website including the reference leads to think that it also stains Katanin. Does this antibody effectively stain Katanin(p60)? thanks

Asked by: tommaso C
Thank you for your question. This antibody is raised against a peptide antigen that is specific for Katanin p60 AL1, Katanin p60 subunit A-like 1 (KATNAL1). It is not expected to cross-react with Katanin p60 A1 (KATNA1).

What application is the blocking peptide sc-373814 P appropriate for?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 3 out of 5 by from worked well on western blotThe antibody worked well on extracts from murine primary osteoclasts (dilution 1/200) in western blot (one band at the expected size). However I could not make it work in immunofluorescence (PHEM or methanol fixation).
