IscU1/2 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects IscU1/2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IscU1 and IscU2 play a crucial role in the biogenesis of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) clusters, which are essential cofactors involved in various cellular processes, including electron transfer in oxidative phosphorylation and enzymatic reactions in key metabolic pathways. The localization of IscU proteins is particularly important, as IscU1 is primarily found in the cytosol while IscU2 is localized in the mitochondria, allowing for the assembly of Fe-S clusters in multiple cellular compartments. This spatial distribution is vital for maintaining cellular iron homeostasis and preventing oxidative damage, especially in cells lacking cytosolic copper/zinc superoxide dismutase. Furthermore, IscU proteins interact with IscS, a cysteine desulfurase, to facilitate the sequestration of inorganic sulfur necessary for Fe-S cluster assembly, highlighting their collaborative role in mitochondrial and cytosolic functions. Anti-IscU1/2 antibody (B-3) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of Fe-S cluster biogenesis and its implications in cellular metabolism and oxidative stress responses.
