Inhibin α Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Inhibin alpha protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Inhibin α antibody (D-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Inhibin is a critical gonadal protein that plays a vital role in regulating the secretion of pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which is essential for reproductive health. Inhibin is composed of two subunits, Inhibin A and Inhibin B, each containing a common α subunit linked to one of two distinct β subunits, either β-α or β-β. Originally isolated from ovarian follicular fluid, Inhibin is characterized as a disulfide-linked dimeric glycoprotein and belongs to the transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) superfamily, which influences a variety of tissues and systems beyond reproduction. Notably, Inhibin also has local regulatory roles in extragonadal tissues such as the brain, adrenal glands, bone marrow, and placenta, with a significant impact on the anterior pituitary. Expression of the Inhibin α subunit gene is downregulated in human prostate cancer, indicating a potential tumor-suppressive function. Furthermore, the human Inhibin α gene is located on chromosome 2q33-q36, highlighting its genetic significance in health and disease.
