Importin-8 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Importin-8 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Importin-8 (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Importin-8, also known as IPO8 or RanBP8, is a 1,037 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in nuclear transport of proteins, particularly those rich in arginine and serine residues. Importin-8 is primarily located in both nucleus and cytoplasm, which enables effective mediation of substrate transport across the nuclear pore complex. As a member of the Importin-β family, Importin-8 acts as a target for Ran, a GTPase, facilitating nuclear protein import. When functioning as an adaptor-like protein, Importin-8 binds to Ran at the nucleoplasmic side of the nuclear pore complex, triggering dissociation of the Importin complex and releasing target substrate into the nucleus. Importin-8 can exist as a heterodimer with karyopherin β1, further underscoring its importance in the intricate process of nuclear transport.
