Importin-7 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Importin-7 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Importin-7 antibody (E-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Importin-7, also known as Ran-binding protein 7 or RanBP7, is a 1,038 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene IPO7 and is a member of the importin β family, characterized by the presence of an importin N-terminal domain. Importin-7 plays a crucial role in nuclear protein import, functioning either as an independent nuclear transport receptor or as an adapter in conjunction with the importin β subunit KPNB1. Importin-7 recognizes nuclear localization signals (NLS) and facilitates the translocation of import substrates through the nuclear pore complex (NPC) via a Ran-dependent mechanism that requires energy. Upon reaching the nucleoplasmic side of the NPC, Ran binds to Importin-7, leading to the dissociation of the Importin-7/substrate complex, after which Importin-7 is recycled back to the cytoplasm where GTP hydrolysis releases Ran. Importin-7 is predominantly expressed in the nucleus and is found in most tissues, highlighting its essential role in cellular function and regulation.
