IL-18BP Antibody (MM0379-10G36) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects IL-18BP protein of human origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-IL-18BP antibody (MM0379-10G36) is available as a non-conjugated format, providing researchers with a reliable tool for studying this important protein. IL-18BP, or Interleukin 18 binding protein, plays a crucial role in modulating the immune response by inhibiting IL-18 activity, a pro-inflammatory cytokine that enhances interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) production from T lymphocytes and boosts natural killer (NK) cell activity. IL-18BP is primarily located in the extracellular space, where IL-18BP binds to IL-18, preventing IL-18 from interacting with its receptor and thereby regulating the Th1 immune response. This inhibition is particularly significant in conditions such as fulminant viral hepatitis, where excessive Th1 activity can lead to tissue damage. Understanding IL-18BP function and location helps researchers better appreciate IL-18BP′s role in immune regulation and potential as a therapeutic target in inflammatory diseases.
