IgM Fab fragment Antibody (MA2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Immunoglobulin M (IgM) in humans through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgM is the largest circulating antibody molecule in humans and plays a crucial role in the immune response, particularly during early stages of infection. Anti-IgM antibody (MA2) is the first immunoglobulin produced by mature B cells and is essential for initial defense against pathogens, effectively agglutinating antigens and activating the complement system. Structurally, IgM typically exists as a pentamer, consisting of five monomeric units linked together, which enhances binding to multiple antigens simultaneously, thereby increasing overall avidity.
