IGF-IR Antibody (3B7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the IGF-IR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by immunoprecipitation (IP) and flow cytometry (FCM). IGF-IR monoclonal antibody (3B7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-IR) plays a crucial role in cellular signaling, acting as a receptor tyrosine kinase that regulates essential processes such as cell growth, survival, and differentiation. Located on the cell membrane, IGF-IR is activated by its ligand, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), which leads to the recruitment of signaling proteins like Shc, GRB2, and Sos 1, initiating the Ras and ERK kinase pathways. These pathways are vital for modulating transcription factor activity, including the activation of Elk transcription factors, which are important for gene expression related to growth and development. Additionally, the insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-1 and -2 proteins, which contain phosphotyrosine binding domains, interact with active IGF-IR to trigger phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-dependent signaling cascades, further influencing cellular responses. The human IGF-IR gene is located on chromosome 15q26.3 and encodes a precursor protein of 1,376 amino acids that is cleaved into α and β subunits, highlighting the complexity and significance of this receptor in various biological processes and its potential implications in cancer biology.

Can IGF-IR (3B7): sc-462 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, IGF-IR (3B7): sc-462 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
