IgE Antibody (4F4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects immunoglobulin E (IgE) in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. IgE is a crucial component of the immune system, primarily known for its role in mediating allergic responses and providing defense against parasitic infections. Anti-IgE antibody (4F4) specifically targets the ε-chain of IgE, which is essential for interaction with high-affinity IgE receptors (FcεRI) on the surface of mast cells and basophils. Upon binding, IgE triggers the release of inflammatory mediators, such as histamines, leading to symptoms associated with allergies, including asthma and anaphylaxis. Additionally, IgE plays a vital role in the immune response to larger parasites, such as helminths, by coating their surfaces and facilitating eosinophil recruitment to eliminate these threats. The ability of IgE to sensitize mast cells and activate eosinophils underscores its importance in both allergic reactions and protective immunity, making IgE monoclonal antibody (4F4) a valuable tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes.

I am using IgE (4F4): sc-51994 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration.
